PHP 8.3.x: Now available on all Servers!

New addition

You're now able to test PHP 8.3 on your dev/upcoming websites, and be on the latest version if you'd like to stay ahead of the curve with PHP 8.1/8.2.

Ref: https://www.php.net/releases/8.3/en.php (now available for use) Previously, only around 50% of machines had the latest sub-major.

cPanel Feature List: Expanded the default

Today we've deployed a refined version of the default Feature List for cPanel account packages. The default list includes everything for a normal (not DNS Only or similar) account, so we've changed from mentioning all, to just specifying which to not present - like cPanel-bundled garbage.

What this means is the most flexible set of functionality possible for clients!

php.ini global configs: Standardised on all

The engineering team have gone through and comleted a new playbook to replace all php.ini files at global/fallback/default-level with a purge to honour.

What this means is that all websites should be experiencing improved performance - the defaults that are inherited are now set to more performant values by default, for 2024 web. Sites nested in subfolders may not inherit.

CloudLinux Packages (LVE): Refined further

Improvement

Our crew have reviewed all client packages except those strictly defined by the client, and have increased some values like IO, IOPS, EP and NPROC.

These have then been manually re-applied against all accounts to reflect. It should help performance somewhat, especially on media-heavy websites.

TNC Toolbox (WP) v1.3.6: GPLv3, Multi-site OK

Fix / Remedy

We consolidated the API Calls into a single "fire" function, cleaning up the codebase for this plugin - enabling simpler maintenance as it keeps growing.

GPLv3 was made consistent too, rather than some v2 and some v3.

Beyond that, we removed the dependency on pluggable.php directly, by adjusting hooks to register at the right time in loading/execution of WP Core.

DR Site: Optical Fibre order submitted! (EE)

New addition

After having to relocate from the previous EE site, we've had a stable copper-based service for over 1 year now, and have committed to a symmetrical Enterprise Ethernet Optical Fibre order with NBN Co. This can be expanded as the years go on to allow for increased duplication throughput to the DR site.

Managed WHMCS: Instances up to v8.10.1

Fix / Remedy

We've updated all installations of WHMCS from v8.9.0 up to v8.10.1, which brings in some refinements and other changes as they work on v9.

JetBackup: Restorations now possible again

Following the earlier upgrade to TrueNAS SCALE (Linux-based) from CORE (BSD-based), we have had to make some amendments so restores work.

  1. Target destination config requires absolute path, not relative. (JBv5)
  2. Shell for each VPS backup user needed to be re-assigned. (TrueNAS)

We've worked through these changes for all users. Let us know if any issue!
